John I used Residential Estimating Services, Daniel McJunkin, 281-597-7301 in Houston, TX. He gave a detailed professional takeoff that was a lot better than the freebie from 84 lumber. I took this to the lumberyards and compared apples to apples. I got my chosen lumberyard to pay half of the $350 takeoff since they did not have to spend time doing it. Also, it was helpful to have drywall, shingle and brick square footage when ordering those items. He color-coded a full set of prints that I gave the framers to show them what boards went in what spots. For example the 16 foot 2 x 6′s were used for 12 ft and 4 ft ceiling joists, eliminating some waste.
